I have just completed the prologue and… wow… man… this game have some serious epic moments. I’m not talking about the pixel vaginas and boobs, but the amazing scenery. The siege of castle and see the momental trebuchets tearing down the walls.

I think this can be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. 

In the next few weeks, sometimes between Christmas and new years eve i will announce what game will receive 8bitpixel Game of The Year award. So far Guybrush Threepwood and Red Dead Redemption got the 8bitpixel GOTY.

What game will be the 2011 winner? I still dont know.

I have preorder a game from my favourite game developers, TellTaleGames.

TellTaleGames have made an Jurassic Park game that looks really cool. It looks cool because the events in the game are based on the first movie. Original soundtrack, and lots of big ass dinosaurs. It was 10€ off if you preorder the game on Steam so i couldn’t resist. November 15 the game is released.

PS: It looks like TellTaleGames are making a Walking Dead game aswell.

In the campaign mode you get the role as a soldier in the Iran/Iraq war in near future. But soon you are involved in some Tom Glancy drama. I will not put much effort to do an in depth review of the BF3 campaign but what i can say is its pretty much the same as all the other war shooting games out there. You and few other soldiers start massacre some brainless enemy’s that don’t know to make cover, just sitting in the open and waiting to be shot. And you do about 80% of the killing. BF3 maybe make this better then the most other games but i got bored early and all i wanted was to complete the campaign so i could start to play multiplayer. I finished the campaign in about 5-6 hoers on normal difficulty.

Multiplayer is different. This is how BF is suppose to be played. First off lets discuss the technical aspect of the game. BF3 looks g o r g e o u s! And with BF3 videocards manufactures sees an opportunity to sell videocards. To play on the highest settings you will NEED a high-end 500€ GPU, and with least an Quad-Core CPU. BF3 was a baptism of fire for my computer. I’m running with medium/high settings (advantage high) settings and BF3 runs very well on my computer. So if you have a up to date mainstream computer rig there will be no problem to play BF3, even on medium settings this game looks absolutely fantastic. I actuelly played the beta on PS3 and the game looks pretty okay on console to, but PC is what BF3 is suppose to be played on if you want all those eye-candy.

Anyhow, lets discuss the multiplayer and leave the technical geek aspect out. First off you  need to use EA own distribution service “Origin” to play BF3, it works just like steam BUT you use the web browser to find games. First i was like… “fuck that shit”, “why do they fucked it up”… but now i think its pretty good. Its easy to use and works pretty much without complications. But there is no Auto-Join button when you want to que to an full server, but i use Chrome so there was an add-on you can download that adds this function to the browser window.  

There is three modes in MP.

• Conquest – Capture control points and keep those.
• Rush – Destroy “M-COM´s” stations, one team defend and the other one attacking
• Death Match – Be the best team with most kills

64 players are maximum (only PC) players. Personally i like 32 player “Rush”-mode best. Conquest mode with 64 players on small map are just insane, its shooting and explosions everywhere, and you die. Lay low and camp is my suggestion. Some maps are huge, design for tank battle and air combat.

There is lot of weapons and gadgets to unlock in BF3. To unlock them you gain points every each battle. And you not only get points to kill, you get points for everything you do on the battlefield. This is a good thing, so the kill/death –ratio doesn’t really matter and i would like there would not be such a statistic in the game at all. Then players would be more focus on the objectives then have a good kill/death –ratio.

Like all multiplayer games out there is numbers of problems addressed. One major problem is the hit registration! Lot of time i shoot half a magazine is someone’s face and he don’t die. He turns around and shot me with two shots and i die. I swear its not that I’m a bad player, its actually happens all the time. I hope Dice fix this soon because i have soon buy a new keyboard if this continue. And when I’m flying with the helicopter and shot one million rounds on one guy he still alive. If i have to make an comparison with Bad Company 2 i feel more in control during the game in Bad Company 2 then BF3. Its easier to know what happens around you in Bad Company 2 then Battlefield 3, and its strange i cant explain why this is so. Its something you have to experience by your self.

Despite all the minor problems BF3 has its still very good game. The sound is suburb, and with games with weapons and war i think the sound is more important then the graphic. Even if i die unfairly (>_>) and ragequit, i still feel an urge to enter the battlefield.

Minor bugs

Verdict:

Best FPS shooter i played for a long time and will have a long service period. If you like what you see go and buy it.

I have actually never play GTAIV to the end, but what i played it was a really good game. But i must admit the best GTA imo is GTA: San Andreas.

And now i have something to play until BF3.

Sometimes i love Steam.
